Introducing Gosia Sobieszek...

No, not now!

Gosia Sobieszek has chosen a vital, intensely personal and moving subject. Her developing relationship with her father is examined in fascinating detail from three perspectives. The Father/Daughter relationship is unpacked and exposed, the Photographer/Sitter environment studied and Sobieszek’s role as the observer of both her and her father is analysed
and revealed.

“No, not now!” can be looked at as a chronological, fragmented diary of their ever developing and changing relationship. The project is uniquely unsentimental, as is their relationship being informed by fear, love and truth. Fear because of the photographer’s realisation that the strong and rather distant father from her childhood is becoming increasingly frail, more intent on seeking a loving and understanding relationship. Love, as more empathy is flowing between the Photographer/Sitter, Daughter/Father. Truth as both people involved are seeking to be brave, open and sensitive to each other’s deepest emotions and needs. A fragility, beautifully exposed is the centrepiece of Sobieszek’s project.
